The Business Owner's Guide
I use Claude Code to check revenue, manage leads, create content, run client delivery, and build marketing systems. Not a single line of code. Here's every platform it's available on, what each one does, and which is right for you.

Claude Code is an AI assistant that actually does things for you. While regular Claude just answers questions, Claude Code takes action: it connects to your business tools, pulls reports, creates content, manages files, builds pages, and automates workflows. Think of it as a team member who never sleeps.
Yes, developers use it to write code. But business owners use it to run morning briefings, manage their CRM, create marketing content, track revenue, build funnels, and deliver client work. It's available on 6 different platforms. Which one you choose depends on how you like to work.

The most powerful option. Type instructions in plain English, Claude does the rest. Where I run my entire business from.
For people who use VS Code (a popular text editor). Claude lives inside it, showing you changes visually before applying them.
For developers who use JetBrains editors (IntelliJ, PyCharm, etc.). Still in beta. Most business owners can skip this one.

Nothing to install. Open your browser, give Claude a task, walk away. Check back when it's done. Works from your phone too.
For teams with developers. Claude automatically reviews and fixes code when someone submits changes. Runs without you.

What you can actually do on each platform. Tap to expand. Translated for business owners, not developers.
The most powerful option. Where I personally run my entire business from.
My take: I'm not a developer, and the terminal is where I run my entire business. It took about two weeks to get comfortable. Once you're past that curve, nothing else comes close.
What you need: A Mac (macOS 13+), Windows 10+, or Linux computer. 4 GB of memory. Internet connection. That's it.
Best if you already use VS Code. Claude lives inside your editor.
For developers who use JetBrains IDEs. Most business owners can skip this.
The easiest to start with. Visual, clickable, no terminal needed.
Zero setup. Give Claude a task from your browser or phone. Walk away.
Fully automated. For teams with developers. Claude handles code reviews and fixes.

Which Platform?
Pick the scenario that sounds like you. That's your starting platform.
Start with the Web (claude.ai/code). Zero setup. Open your browser, connect a GitHub repo, and see what Claude Code can do. When you want more power, install the CLI or Desktop app.
Use the Desktop App. It has the most visual interface: see changes before they happen, preview your app live, and manage sessions from a sidebar. No terminal knowledge required.
Use the Terminal. It connects to the most business tools: your CRM (GoHighLevel, HubSpot), payment processors (Stripe), email (Gmail), calendar, Notion, Slack, and more. I run my entire business from here.
Use the Web + iOS/Android combo. Kick off tasks from your phone, let them run in the cloud, and check results later. Or use Dispatch to send tasks straight to your Desktop app.
Use the VS Code Extension. Claude lives right inside your editor. You see changes visually, drag files in, and undo anything. Great balance of power and ease.
Use GitHub Actions. Claude automatically reviews code, fixes issues, and merges approved changes. Your dev team moves faster without you being in the loop.
Use the Terminal with an API key. Pay only for what you use instead of a monthly subscription. Set a dollar cap per session so Claude stops before you overspend.
Combine platforms. Terminal for daily business operations. Desktop for visual work. Web for delegating tasks from your phone. They all work together.
The Verdict
There is no single "best" platform. Claude Code is an ecosystem. Each surface serves a different workflow. Here's the honest breakdown.
This is where you get the most power. Connect your CRM, Stripe, Gmail, calendar, and Notion. Run morning briefings. Score leads. Create content. Set spending caps. I'm not a developer, and this is where I run everything. The learning curve is about two weeks.
Download, open, start talking to Claude. Visual interface, live page previews, and Claude can even control your Mac screen for you. The most approachable option for anyone who doesn't want to touch a terminal.
Nothing to install. Open your browser, give Claude a task, close your laptop. Check back later. Works from your phone too. The lowest friction way to start, but no business tool connections yet.
If you have developers, they'll want VS Code for daily work and GitHub Actions for automated code reviews. Most solo business owners won't need these.
If you're just starting, get a Pro plan ($20/month) and try the Desktop App or Web interface. No terminal, no learning curve. See if Claude Code fits your workflow.
When you're ready for full business operations (CRM, revenue tracking, content systems, lead scoring), move to the Terminal. That's where the real leverage lives. I went from never touching a terminal to running my entire agency from it. If I can do it, you can do it.
On pricing: You will hit the Pro limits fast if you're using Claude Code seriously. I'm on the Max 20x plan ($200/month) because I use it all day for everything. Start at $20 to experience it. Upgrade when the value is obvious. It won't take long.
No download needed. Open your browser and go. Pro plan starts at $20/month.
